SU B J ECT : A NNUAL NOTIFICATION OF ASBESTOS ACTIVITIES
During the 20 16-20 17 school year the Lower Kuskokwim School District continues to comply with EPA's
AHERA (Asbestos Haz,rd Emergency Response Act) r09ual tions.Thisis d0<1e throughan Operati0<1S and Maintenance program, and two informal inspe<:ti OI\S of asbestos materials each year. If risky conditions are foundsteps are t.aken to repair the damaged asbestos and return it to a good, intact condition.
The updating of the Management Planincludes current informat ion regarding where asbestos containing buiding materials ( ACBM) are located, work done on asbestos materials, employee training, and the results of the two informal inspections.
Capital Project completed all Asbestos work for your site during FY16 school year and the new school is considered asbestos free. This is not a guarantee that asbestos is non existent in the new school . Some asbestos is in the teacher housing units. All work that might disturb any asbestos containing materials will be doneby accredited workers following EPA guidelines for working with asbestos
The O&M program continues to be the major approach to dealing with asbestos-containing materials in this facility. The Preventative Maintenance Supervisors are to conduct two hour Asbestos Awareness training sessions at all sites. Additional sessions can be arranged at your site whenever there is a need. The purpose of these sessions is to make people who are concerned about asbestos in the schools more aware of what asbestos is and how it can and cannot harm you. lnformation is presented on where asbestos is located in your school and how to work around asbestos containing materials without creating an asbestos hazard. Teacher Housing units should not be modified without informing our maintenance staff and the RCO a some may have ACBM! Fire Doors are currently under review at all sites.
All Management Plan documents are available for public inspection during norma l working hours, and are located in the Site Administrator's office. Anyone wishing to review these documents should make arrangements with the Site Administrator. These documents are not to be removed from the schooloffice.
This notice satisfies the requirements of 1763.93(9)(4) of the AHERA regulations.
